Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about water testing, water treatment, and plumbing service in Southwest Florida.
Where does Waterbird SWFL work?
We serve Lee, Collier, and Charlotte counties only, from Marco Island and Naples up through Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Lehigh Acres, Punta Gorda, and Port Charlotte.
Are you licensed?
Yes. Waterbird SWFL is a Florida Certified Plumbing Contractor, license number CFC1433714.
What does the free water test include?
We come to your home, check hardness, measure pH, and look for iron and other minerals, then go over the results with you in plain language. It is a field check, not a laboratory report. The test is free and there is no obligation to buy anything.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. Along with the free water test, we offer a free consultation on water treatment and Aqua Nest drinking water systems.
Will you always recommend a system?
No. Recommendations follow the test. If your water is in good shape, we will tell you that.
Do I need a water softener or a drinking water system?
They solve different problems. A softener treats hardness for the whole house: spots, scale, and soap that will not lather. An Aqua Nest under-sink system is for drinking water at the kitchen faucet. Some homes need one, some both, some neither; the water test tells us which.
My well water smells like rotten eggs. Will a softener fix it?
Usually not. A rotten-egg smell typically comes from hydrogen sulfide, and orange stains from iron. Those are usually handled with iron and sulfur filtration, chosen after a test shows where the problem comes from.
Do you work with well water?
Yes. Well water is common in areas such as Lehigh Acres, North Fort Myers, Golden Gate Estates, and parts of Charlotte County, and it often calls for a different setup than city water. Private well owners should also follow Florida Department of Health guidance on yearly lab testing for bacteria and nitrate.
What is Aqua Nest?
Aqua Nest is the high-flow, 5-stage under-sink drinking water system we install. It works with the kitchen faucet you already have.
Do you haul away my old water heater?
Yes. When we install a new water heater, unhooking and hauling away the old tank is free. You pay for the new water heater and the installation.
How do I schedule?
Call 239-376-0640 or use the request form on our contact page. Tell us your city and, if you know, whether you are on city water or a well.
