Whole-home water treatment

A whole-home system treats water where it enters the house, so the showers, the laundry, and the fixtures are on the same supply — not only the kitchen tap.
Whole-home filtration is the point-of-entry equipment: sediment, carbon, iron treatment, a softener, or a combination, matched to the test. It is a different job from an under-sink drinking system. Many houses end up with both, and many houses need only one. We do not stack equipment for the sake of a bigger install.
Problems a whole-home setup is meant to address
- Sediment that clouds the water or clogs aerators
- A chlorine taste or odor on city water
- Iron staining when the test shows iron
- Hardness that shows up on every fixture, not just the kitchen
- Sulfur odor that is in the cold water, not only the water heater
Media is chosen after the test. Activated carbon, sediment filtration, and iron treatment are different tools. A properly sized system should not starve the house of pressure; pressure drops when filters are left clogged. We will tell you what maintenance the equipment you buy actually needs.
For drinking water at the kitchen, see the Aqua Nest page. That under-sink system is not a substitute for treating iron or hardness for the whole house, and a whole-home filter is not a substitute for a drinking-water system when taste at the kitchen tap is the goal.
Questions
Does whole-home treatment replace a drinking-water system?
No. Whole-home equipment treats the water entering the house. Aqua Nest is a high-flow under-sink system for the kitchen faucet. Some homes use one, some use both, depending on the test and what you want at the tap.
Will this fix water pressure?
Only if the pressure problem is a clogged filter or scaled piping related to the water. A failing pump, a closed valve, or a pipe restriction is a plumbing issue. We will say which one we are looking at.
